Severe thunderstorms ripped through Ontario and Quebec on Friday evening (July 19, 2013), with heavy downpours, hail, and high winds, knocking out power, toppling trees and downing branches across two provinces. Hundreds of thousands of people were left without power. There were numerous tornado warnings during the storm which lasted for hours.

My niece's property was damaged. These are a few photos of her place taken Saturday morning. They were supposed to be leaving for vacation that morning but had to get the trees off of the house first and inspect for damage. Her hubby and a friend spent hours up on the roof with chainsaws. Fortunately, no one was hurt (the babies slept right through the storm).
