Journaling reads: Coming from an abusive environment can make for a lot of obstacles in a person's life. How we overcome these obstacles varies from person to person. One of my sisters deals with anger, another, distance, and I have dealt with black outs. The blacked out frames of time used to bother me, but since I have come to understand the depth of the horror that we survived, I am thankful for them. They are Elohim's way of protecting me. Protecting me from the despair that I would have surely felt had He not been there by my side constantly, protecting me from the harmful behaviors that would have surely drug me down and protecting me from becoming a bitter person. About 6 years ago, I was introduced to a Native American Christian musical group named Broken Walls. One of their songs, Rise Up Mighty Warrior has spoken to me time and time again, encouraging and allowing me to heal. This verse in particular has had a major impact on the way that I have viewed the past and chosen to move forward with my life. "To all who've suffered, at the hands of another Come out from the bitterness, come out from the shame The God of creation, He's calling out your name Turn to those with love, who have only brought you pain" And, the chorus of the song gives Hope "So rise up mighty warrior rise up And receive what only God can give He gives life through the blood of Jesus Christ He gives love, and the strength to forgive" You can listen to Rise Up Mighty Warrior here: https://www.angelfire.com/country/wolfsfamily/riseupmightywarrior.html
