Journaling:I have never seen the world in black and white. My world has always been filled with color. Some of those colors were violently painful. But they were bright and real. I soothed myself with pictures, with color, with images of a softer, gentler world.

My grandfather took pictures of everything. He made me wonder what he saw through that tiny lens. He saw the world, but better, or at least I know that’s what I see.

The way I see the world through my camera lens is clearer, more honest, more real.

It’s so important to me to save every moment. Some of those behind the camera times are just me hiding from the world. Because I am scared or tired or intimidated, so I hide…because behind my tiny lens I see the beauty in those everyday minute breaths. I see the tired barista pause to sip her own cup, the reflection of windows reflecting sunshine on a glass bottle of water, an elderly couple exchange oh so brief smiles, raindrops on flowers, hovering like nearly shed tears on the face of an angel.

I see life, one blessed moment of color at a time.
