Journaling says:
When my father died unexpectedly when I was 14 years old, my mother was only 40 years old. During her marriage, she had been a stay at home mom, and also helped my father in his
home based trucking business. She was left with a trucking business, but no driver for the trucks. She was left with a house that had been mortgaged in order to buy that business.
She was left with the responsibility of finishing the job of raising my older sister and I. She stepped up to the task that was thrown at her with my father's sudden death.
She never showed fear in my presence. She always showed me strength, courage, and fortitude. Underneath, though, I'm sure she was scared to death, uncertain, and lonely!

I learned a lot of life lessons from my mom after my father's death. I learned that God will provide for His children. I
learned that things may not be the same all the time, just different, and different can be alright. I learned that life goes on--day by day even
though sometimes unexpected events throw a monkey wrench into man made plans. I learned that with perseverance and faith that life can still be full and rewarding even though it wasn't the way you
planned it out. I learned that life goes on even after losing someone precious in your life. My mother certainly faced a lot of challenges during that time of her life. She sold the business, and with
that money, and the money she received with her new-found job, she was able to provide the necessities of life for us. She paid off the mortgage on the house, and through the grace of God, we lived
through the tragedy of losing him. She may have been jello on the inside, but she was a rock on the outside. She was definitely my hero.
