journaling: At the young age of 15 my great-great-great-grandmother, Janet Sweeney, was asked by Queen Victoria herself to come to the palace to help sew the dress for her wedding to Prince Albert! Janet spent many weeks at the palace sewing the beautiful gown that has been lauded as the first in the tradition of white wedding gowns. It was this same gown that was the inspiration for a christening gown made for Queen Victoria's daughter a year later and has been worn by royal babies for 172 years, including the most recent addition to the royal family - Prince George. What a legacy!
