Journaling:  Nathan Chen, 14, shattered the national junior men’s record in Boston winning the gold medal with a score of 223.93 points, more than 30 points ahead of second place.  “I was pretty happy with what I did,” he said, noting that the free skate routine was designed to “get me out of my comfort zone.”

Despite being in 6th place after the short program which include two points deducted because of falls and three minus GOE’s, a strong free skate to “Milonga del Angel” and “Tanguera” propelled Jordan Moeller onto the podium in second place.

Jimmy Ma who says he started skating lesson when he was 8 years old because he fell on his face during a birthday skate party, moved up from Pewter last year to Bronze at this year’s competition.

Chase Belmontes, 18,  says he was very proud of his skating as he earned the pewter medal in the Junior Men’s competition.  His free skate included seven triple jumps.
