I've been doing a digital calendar every month for a couple of years now. I pick out a challenge that "works" for my calendar (the Font Challenge in this case) and do a layout using my template. As the month goes on, I add elements to it for important events that happen. It works as sort of a visual diary. This month, since I have a number of events planned, I went ahead and added some of them to the calendar already.
