“It’s no surprise to anyone who knows me that I am a not a big animal lover. I did have a cocker spaniel (Oscar) growing up that I adored. I taught him to shake hands, sit and to kiss without actually touching me. I loved that dog so much. In the summer of 1997, Oscar was slowly dying a miserable death from congenital heart disease. I sobbed my heart out the day Dad hauled him to the vet to put him to sleep. I don’t know why I’ve been so reluctant to have a dog of my own now that I’m a grown up but I have been. After getting 4 kids potty trained, I suppose the thought of another “baby” just made me too tired to consider it. I have finally relented and decided we can have a dog, as long as it is an outside only dog. BriAnna’s friend happened to mention their lab had puppies so went to check them out. We fell in love with this plump little black female. She’ll have to stay with her mother for a few more months but then we will be the proud new owners of a black lab. I hope I don’t regret this decision!

Deciding on a name was a big adventure. Jaiden liked Hosehead (after the movie Strange Brew) and Burnt Toast (which he thought he’d call Burnie.) BriAnna didn’t care too much. The little girls liked Cocoa Puff. After seeing the puppy, we were driving home and I mentioned that we should call her Lulu, just like we’d been calling Tessa since the day she was born. We think it’ll be funny to call for Lulu and have Tessa and the dog both respond. After giving it some thought, we are all in agreement that Lulu is the perfect name for the new baby of our family.”
