For as long as I can remember, I have always looked forward to those much-maligned yellow marshmallow peeps. Mom and dad would always take them out of the package and place them in my Easter basket, so by the time I got around to eating them, they were nice and stale. This gives them a wonderful chewy texture that can’t be beaten. I tried to pass along the tradition to my children, but they didn’t seem to like the peeps...what’s up with that??? So I would still buy them, put them in the baskets and then eat them myself, lol. Now that it is just me and the hubby, the minute I see the peeps in the store, I will buy a package. We no longer have a basket so we pop holes in the cellophane and just wait for them to get to the proper stage of staleness. There are 10 peeps per package so they are evenly distributed...or else! You can just imagine how surprised and happy we were to find that the Mall of America has a Peeps store with any flavor you want!
