journaling: We were all so excited to head to the pool for a nice cool off. It was such a scorcher of a day out and we were all so cranky from the heat! I was a bit nervous at first about taking the three of you to the pool with limited help. After all, all three of you are not very strong swimmers yet. Kai and you have done swim lessons the past few years, but I wouldn’t call you a pro- swimmer yet. But when we got to the pool you were bound and determined to go off the diving board all by yourself. The pool has a rule that you must be able to swim across the deep end of the pool by yourself no stopping back and forth before you are allowed to use the diving board. I explained this to you and you smiled and told me you could do it. To be honest I had little faith that you could, but you set out to prove me wrong. You walked right up to the life guard and asked to take the test. I watched in amazement as you swam across that pool as if you had done it 100 times before. Soon you were in line to take your first ever jump off that diving board. I stood there ready to watch you take your first leap. You walked so tall and pride as you walked down the board to jump off. As you reached the end of the board you turned and looked at me. I could tell you were scared, but I gave you a thumbs up and off the end you went! I couldn’t have been prouder watching you climb up that ladder after you were done with that huge grin upon your face. You set your mind to something and you accomplished it
