Journaling reads:
We had gone to Arlington National Cemetery to see the changing of the guard. When we got there, it was nearly 100 degrees and very humid, which made for a long and difficult walk to the tomb. After we got to the tomb, Grumpy came to tell us that we had missed the changing of the guard by mere minutes and had to wait until the next time. During our wait, the girls and Mee-Mom cooled off in the shade while Mama walked around taking photos of the guard on duty, doing his job. Grumpy and Daddy talked quietly off to the side. When the time came, we all went out to the viewing area to watch the guards change duty. It was so amazing to see this historic event, what it means to each American, the markings left in the ground from countless guards walking the same path day after day, year after year.
