I used the branch as a symbol that this is one branch of my family and the scattered leaves to reflect that the descendants of these ancestors are scattered throughout the US.
Journaling: After working on our family genealogy for 12 years, I discovered that we had Dutch ancestors in 2018. A historical Bucks County book provided a clue to the proper spelling of a 4th great grand-mother's surname which lead to an entire book written on the family by a 3rd cousin.
The ancestors listed settled in New Amsterdam (now considered Staten Island). They were all substantial land owners, but it was sold off as the first immigrants passed away and the family began to migrate to Bucks County PA and into New Jersey.
