Some headlines made, some and toilet paper from Ayi Pandemic

Journaling:   Coronavirus started as this thing “out there” that didn’t seem to have much impact on most of our daily lives, but in a short amount of time, we suddenly found ourselves in the middle of a worldwide pandemic. Events were cancelled, curfews enacted, church services moved online, significant life events such as graduations, weddings and birthday parties were cancelled or downsized, and babies arrived in the world without the usual snuggling with other family and friends.

As more and more schools and businesses closed, even us homeschoolers found our lives changed: no field trips or meeting up with friends for playdates, extra activities all cancelled, and an abrupt end to our co-op classes and the Year End Showcase that the kids were working so hard to prepare for. (Jovelle even had the lead in the play and already had all her lines memorized!)

A range of emotions filled us on any given day: disappointment, loss, sadness, worry, anger, fear, panic, relief at not being expected to go anywhere (especially for the introverts among us), gratitude at this gift of time with our loved ones....

Even as we have missed friends, meeting with others and just going to the grocery store without a mask, God has also redeemed some of these losses with the beautiful gift of time and a slower pace of life. We have used this time to connect with God and family, play games, learn new crafts, garden, bake and cook, begin a new hobby, take advantage of the many fun classes online, serve others and appreciate the beauty of God's creation. And yes, we’ve even found ways to make birthdays and other celebrations special!

In a world that is changing so much during this virus, how grateful we can be that God is the same yesterday, today, tomorrow and forevermore!
