Train from Vancouver to Pittsburgh, then to visit Cheryl & Ted Turner in West Virginia, May 2007. 1. & 2. sleeping car from Spokane to Pittsburgh, with paper crafts, crocheting, knitting, and sewing, all as carry-on! Also the “cosy socks” while lounging in the “nest.” 3. purse made from wool from sheepherders in Helvetia, WV. 4. snuggling with Cheryl’s kitty, Pepper. 5. Pepper liked her new kitty blankie! 3. 3 kitty blankies, a lap robe, & a potholder.
The journaling is from Mom’s travel diary that she kept. “Decided to have only carry on going to Pittsburgh…ha…by the time I got to Cheryl’s I had enough to send one box full of newspapers, brochures and three skeins of yarn back home! Glad I did bring yarn along because I finished three kitty blankets one purse and started another purse. Finished a lap robe and gave it to Marianne for the pregnancy shelter. My socks were sooooo cosy & especially nice on the trip from Chicago to Pittsburgh. I had the last four seats on the last car: 2 faced 2 so could put foot rests up on all four & had a “nest” there! Felt wonderful! The two women across the aisle were on their way to move the Mom from around Harrisburg down to daughter in Texas. Taught daughter how to cast on and knit again before we went to sleep!!” The excited face at the end of the journal is how she wrote it in the travel diary, and I’ve kept all the text as she wrote it.
