Kit is The Scrappy Kat - Police Heroes
Journaling:
When I went to my first day of work on Sept 12, 2022, I had no idea what I was getting myself into. All I knew was that I was working at a call center where the calls were inbound. I didn’t know anything about the company or the product.
I quickly learned that the company provided phone time and other services to county jails across the country. So the calls coming in were friends and family members of incarcerated individuals. My job was to make sure they could answer the phone when their loved ones called.
After a couple of months, I moved from receiving calls from friends and family to troubleshooting calls that were regarding video visitation and email.
Not long after that, I was talking to inmates on the phone, trouble-shooting small issues they had when trying to call their people. It seemed only a week or so when I was then moved to L1 where my primary job was talking to jail staff. Since joining L1, we have moved buildings and officially become part of the tech team.
I absolutely love my job. I feel like I get to talk to friends all day on the phone, because that is was to many of my jail staff callers have become. It’s never boring in the world of corrections. Sometimes I can hear inmates singing or yelling in the background. Sometimes jail staff tells me the story behind some of the inmates they are so proud of for overcoming obstacles. Sometimes they tell me about their personal lives. Sometimes we talk football or tell jokes.
I still get to talk to inmates fairly often as we’ve incorporated that division into our tech support team. They are also never boring and have the best variety of names I’ve ever seen!
If you would have told me two years ago that I’d be on a tech support team, talking to inmates and jail staff, and absolutely loving my job, I would have been very skeptical. I consider myself incredibly blessed to be part of such a great company! I may also be a little crazy, always asking what county a person is from to see if they live where one of my jails services, but then again, I am a little crazy anyway.
I love the people I work with. I love the job I do. I love (most of) the inmates we serve. I have learned so much about myself and my capablitlies since taking this job. I hope to be a part of this company for a very, very long time.
