Growing up we always had an angel on top of our Christmas tree. I have found out that wasn’t always the case. Early in their marriage my parents had stars. For me the angel was the important one. She had a light bulb in her skirt to help light her up. The skirt always, the face so-so. My younger sister was able to get the Angel we grew up with. One summer while we were treasure hunting at yard sales, I saw the exact same angel! Wow, what are the odds. I was so very happy and didn’t let that out of my hands as we looked around. From that point on she was always on top of our tree. I don’t remember whether it was one of the Sister Parties or our Christmas, but she was on all day. She had one of the old 1950-60 light bulbs to light her up. They, of course, get very hot. When we took the tree down, her face had melted and there was no way it could be fixed. I saw her like that and all I could do was hold her and cry. She was that sentimental to me.
