JOURNALING: I read on-line about a new restaurant opening near where I live, The Crispy Coop. Who doesn’t like crisp, fried chicken and, with the tagline “Central Ohio’s #1 Chicken Joint”, what’s not to love? So, one afternoon my sister and I ventured out to the new place for take-out. Neither one of us wanted to try their signature chicken sandwich, but I DID order “chicken and waffles” – mainly intrigued by the “pearl sugar” (Yummy!). My sister ordered only sides (Just OK). We split the dessert – “Coca-Cola Red Velvet Cake”. Now THAT was worth the drive over there, especially since there are, in my opinion, two better “chicken joints” (Raising Cane’s and KFC) closer to my home. Don’t know that I could taste the Coca-Cola but the cake sure was moist and that strawberry topping was delicious. 5/17/24
