Journaling page 1:

I've now seen a Tigers game at every level of the Post Season! I “needed” an ALCS game to go with my 1984 World Series and 2011 Division Series games and that need was fulfilled tonight!  Add to that the cool-factor of it being a repeat of our first date for David and me. This year my AL team and his team faced each other; it was Detroit and Boston facing each other with plans to advance to the World Series.  No matter who wins, we hope to watch then win the championship title.  (It’ll be the Tigers; don’t tell David!)

Game time temperature was 55; definitely a hot chocolate game!

Jim Leyland mixing up the lineup was a tonic!  MY Tiger, Austin Jackson had been slumping hitting lead-off in the Playoffs.  From the 8-hole he was 2 for 2 with 2 walks that included the game’s first RBI.  While Doug Fister pitched a great game Jake Peavy’s night of bad control gave us a 5-run gift for the second inning.

In my Al Kaline jersey, I sneaked in applause for every hit in MY Red Sox, Jacoby Ellsbury’s 4 for 5 night.  Ellsbury ended up being the biggest stick in the Red Sox lineup in the game.  The Tigers won 7-3.  They scored all of their runs before the fifth inning and Boston scored all of theirs after 5.  Thankfully it wasn’t enough to come .from behind (again) and the Series is tied at 2.
