Journaling: I walk into the cool interior of the Shasta building where the art exhibits are on display. I feel a little intimidated by the obvious talent of my competitors. Drawing a deep breath, I look to my left and sweep the photography section until I find my entries; three of my favorite scrapbooking pages that I have framed and turned into "art' for my home. It's not that they are perfect - not by any means - but I feel each one contains a little piece of my soul. They are a window into my inner-most thoughts and feelings. Judging will start soon. One more deep breath and a roll of my shoulders to release some of the tension. And I thought the karaoke was nerve wracking - ha!

The Missing Journaling (no room): Several years ago, in a moment of self-perceived genius (bipolar with psychotic episodes), my brother decided to do our parents a favor on Christmas Eve and heat their home by filling every bowl, pot, and cup with kerosene, then lighting every candle he could find. Needless to say, our parents became homeless that night, but more then that, everything that was held dear (the dresser hand made by my grandfather before I was born, the books written by my uncle and great uncle, the quilts, mop dolls, and macrame projects we made together when my grandmother was still alive, and so much more) was gone. What I have is what I am creating now with my scrapping. I'm finding that, for now, it is enough.
