Journaling: For a few days in November, the Turkey Creek neighborhood was treated to a visit by this pair of Sand Hill Cranes.  Although Florida has a resident population of Sand Hill Cranes, the ones that visited Turkey Creek for a few days in early November probably were part of the huge flocks that migrate in late fall from Canada and the upper Midwest.  They are tall birds standing 3 to 5 feet tall with wingspans from 5 to 7 feet.  Sand Hill Cranes mate for life and can live upwards of twenty years.  11/5/15
