JOURNALING: RGD 382-RG; There were only a few of these expensive sets made in 1938 and each cabinet was especially built for the customer. It had a 12" screen and a high quality AM/SW radio.
HMV 1800: This rare set was to be released 8/29/39, two days before the BBC discontinued TV transmission for the duration of WW2. Screen size was 10".
This 5" British set with radio was one of the least expensive sets available when it was introduced in 1938.
RCA Model 5: Prototype color TV sets were begun in 1951 with "Model 1."The 1st network color show was the 1954 Rose Bowl Parade. 200 of these "Model 5"s were made for TV stations and execs. to view it.
Our first TV, by RCA, circa early 1950's, was very similar to the "Model 5." Although a B&W set, my sister and I SWORE we saw a color program on it one holiday.
