I spent the last week going through Grandma & Grandpa K.'s house as Janet has been getting it ready for a huge estate sale and getting ready to sell it as well.  I am so grateful that Mom was able to make so many of Grandpa's "bucket list" things happen, such as this picture from their trip back to Ft. Huachuca, AZ, where they lived for a while when Mom was little.  Mom helped Grandpa with genealogy, cataloging the numerous photographs he took over the decades, and organizing the videos (and film, and other media) that he took.  She dedicated the last years of her life, when she herself wasn't in good health, to making his dreams come true when no one else in the family wanted to dedicate that energy.  He wouldn't quit trying to "document history as it happened," so she didn't quit trying to help him when others wanted him to stop.  My aunt took the prints and the slides that we found, and I took the negatives, plus some prints that the estate sales crew found after my aunt was done going through things.  I will keep on telling the stories that my grandpa and mom didn't get to tell.  My grandpa, grandma, and uncle Bill now have moved out of the house.  Grandma has been at The Quarry in their memory care unit for a few years now, Grandpa just moved into an assisted living facility by the Fred Meyer on Evergreen, and Bill is currently at Extended Stay America and on a waiting list to get into an apartment at Smith Tower.
