Journaling: Every year when we had our Zoo Christmas party at my house, John brought a huge box of crackers and cookies and even canned cheese (which the guys and kids loved) from work. He delivered for Nabisco in the late 80s and 90s. There was also always a big bag of potato chips and dip. Somehow every year the dip got left in the refrigerator and the chips never got opened. I ended up eating all of the chips and dip over the week or so before the end of the year.

I'm not a huge eater of potato chips with dip, except at Christmas time. John was responsible for giving me an annual “habit.” Since I lost John, a big brother to me and one of my best friends, in 2009, that craving at Christmas time has become one of my many tributes to one of the most loving and generous people I've ever known.
