It is traditional in most Norwegian families to make 7 kinds of cookies at Christmas, although the kinds made vary from family to family and region to region.  In my grandma's family, one of the kinds we make is caramel cookies, also called Mollie cookies after the family member who first made the recipe in our family.  This year, I made them for the first time by myself.  Although they turned out thicker than they were supposed to be, I got them exactly right otherwise.  This tradition will live on.
