I spent Thanksgiving at my daughter’s dog sitting. On December 2, 2019, I headed back to my condo. When I got home, I discovered my condo was flooded. I went scrambling to find where the water was coming from.  At first I thought it was my washing machine, so I hurried to turn those faucets off. Water still flowed.  More scrambling trying to find from where. I discovered it was the expansion tank on the hot water heater.  I got a hold of my daughter, Terry who sent her husband over with their shop vac to soak up the water. He discovered he was fighting a losing battle because he couldn’t get the water on the heater turned off.  We had to call the city to come shut the water off at the meter.  When my other daughter, Robbin, got off work she came over to see what needed to be done.  We found out we needed to get the floor up as soon as possible. However, the insurance company said not to take it up until the adjuster could get here. All that followed was very stressful. It started with my special Christmas Party needing to be canceled. Then company that does the cleanup brought a pod to set at my front door putting all my furniture in it.  All 5 rooms of flooring had to be ripped up, the area dried and new flooring laid. They brought in 24 big machines to dry things out. New flooring couldn’t be laid right away so when my condo was emptied of furniture I decided it would be a good time to wash walls. I camped out in the bedroom for a couple days. Then the handy man was able to lay the new flooring. With no furniture in my own home, I stayed with one of my daughters. 29 Days!  Once the floors were laid they brought my furniture in and picked up the pod.  Now it is my turn to unpack the 43 boxes and get my home organized again..
