JOURNALING:
Since 2006, our local newspaper has conducted a digital Easter egg hunt. Columnist Joe Blundo creates 10 riddles describing locations in and around Franklin Co. OH where eggs have been digitally "hidden." Participants figure out the clues and send their answers to the newspaper. The winner receives a small prize. While not competing in the contest, my sister and I have had a lot of fun figuring out the clues and taking pictures at each site. We've learned so much about the amazing city in which we grew up. I do layouts after each of the hunts. This is riddle #4 from 2017. "Winnie Waymarker," my "travel troll" enjoys appearing, either in a photo or digitally added, on all of these layouts.

MY KINDA TOWN #7
Monthly observations about the capital of Ohio (no, NOT Cleveland)

The Pump House Art Gallery is located in Yoctangee Park in downtown Chillicothe OH, 45 miles south of Columbus at the confluence of the Scioto River and Paint Creek. In the early 1800's, Chillicothe was the site of the first AND third capitals of Ohio. Located in Ross County, it is in the heart of the Hopewell Indian moundbuilders traditional territory. The Art Gallery, located in an 1883 Victorian structure that used to be the pumping station for the area water and sewer company, is on the National Register of Historic Places. It was saved from the wrecking ball and transformed into the art gallery in the mid-1980's.

To an old capital, and where it bends
Is a park with a structure, Victorian, distinguished,
Built as a way to keep fires extinguished,
Place to show painting, pottery and more,
And the location of Egg No. 4.
