JOURNALING: With my healthier lifestyle, I now have more energy and feel I can do more things. When Randy and my cruise stopped in Jamaica, he asked me if I wanted to take an excursion to Dunn’s River Falls. At first, I thought it was just a gorgeous photo op and instantly agreed. However, when we arrived, I realized I had gotten myself into something a little more than I originally expected. The purpose of the excursion was not to just see the falls, but to CLIMB them. The falls are 180 feet high and 600 feet long, and terraced like giant natural stairs. Luckily, we had great guides and we met new friends who helped me with some more of the tricky spots. As we were getting near to the top, we had the option of taking a side exit to use stairs to get to the top. Randy asked me if I wanted to skip the stairs and climb the way to the top. He asked if we would regret not completing the course since we were so close. So, I said YES and we finished the climb. It took us about an hour and half to complete the climb, but I’m so glad that we did it. We not only had a sense of achievement, but also made some good friends who climbed with us. Of course, we did have sore muscles for the next several days, but it was well worth it! Ha! Ochos Rios, Jamaica – February 2020
