We were visiting with son David in Flagstaff, AZ for Thanksgiving in 2015. Grandson Jack wanted me to teach him how to make my Pecan Pie which has always been a "Family Favorite". Jack loves to cook and always wants to add a new recipe to his file. We proceeded to make the pecan pie. Put it in the oven and waited for it to cook. While we were watching thru the oven window Jack said "Grammie is it supposed to run all over the edges"? Yikes! it was over flowing and needless to say making a mess in the oven. Since damage was already done, we just let it cook. We suddenly realized that the altitude at Flagstaff is 6,000 ft and had affected the cooking of the pie. We took it out of the oven to cool and when it was tasted Jack decided it tasted pretty good even though it was not the most beautiful Pecan Pie. Lesson learned: from then on, we ordered pies from the local bakery.
