JOURNALING:
Everything good, everything magical happens between the months of June and August. (Jenny Han)
but...
strange things happen too.

JUNE On June 17, 1994, an apparently suicidal Orenthal "O.J." Simpson (actor/former football legend) and his friend Al Cowlings led police on a 60-mile slow-speed car chase through Los Angeles and Orange Counties, captivating viewers glued to television sets. Simpson had failed to surrender to police earlier in the day, when he was slated to be charged in the murders of his ex-wife and her male friend. As police closed down the freeways and 20 cruisers followed Simpson, spectators filled the freeway overpasses, many cheering him on with signs reading "Go O.J."

JULY On July 2, 1937, the Lockheed aircraft carrying American aviator Amelia Earhart and navigator Frederick Noonan was reported missing during their attempt to fly around the world. U.S. Coast Guard cutter Itasca was in sporadic radio contact with Earhart after she left Lae, New Guinea for tiny Howland Island, 2,227 nautical miles away, in the center of the Pacific Ocean. Her last report said she was lost and running low on fuel.  No trace of Earhart or Noonan was ever found.

AUGUST On Aug. 22, 565, the first report of an encounter with a monster in Loch Ness was recorded. According to legend, St. Columba saved a man who was swimming close to the beast. Those on shore were "stupefied with terror" as the saint invoked God's name, formed the sign of the cross, and commanded, “Thou shalt go no further, nor touch the man; go back with all speed.” At the voice of the saint, the monster was terrified and quickly fled.
