This is for an alphabet challenge at another site. I'm doing television shows as my theme this go-round. JOURNALING: "Golden Girls", (1985-1992) is about 4 mature women sharing the Miami home of aging Southern belle Blanche Devereaux, a "man-hungry" widow, played by Rue McClanahan (right). Betty White (left) was naive Rose Nylund, a widow who told crazy stories of her life in St. Olaf, MN. Bea Arthur (top) as teacher and divorcee Dorothy Zbornak, was sarcastic, smart, and intimidating. Dorothy's Sicilian mom, Sophia Petrillo, (Estelle Getty, bottom) had previously suffered a stroke (explains her blunt, uncensored remarks) when she came to live with the group. Show creator Susan Harris said, "These women...encouraged each other and had a life together. It showed that you didn’t need the customary, traditional relationship to be happy. It paints a picture of all the possibilities for family.” CREDITS: TELEVISION: from clipart library; GOLDEN GIRLS: clipart by Glen Hanson at DLPNG.com; KIT: "Be a Pineapple" by Scraps N Pieces; INFORMATION: from the web (and memory); FONT: Arial
