Sept. 16, 1990:  Karen chose daffodils, freesia, tulips, crocus, and iris.  It should be pretty if even a few of them come up.  She also has a white wisteria, hydrangea, azalea, and bleeding heart along with the bluebells that were planted there by her Great-Grandparents on the Kittleson side.  Quite a garden for all the animals both concrete and alive that play back there!

Growing gardens around playhouses is not as easy as it looks, Karen and Stevie found out this fall.  Bulbs should be planted after the 15th of September…if you plant them on the 16th and have an Indian Summer, water them, and fertilize them as they are planted, they will start to sprout by the first of October!  Time will tell what will happen next Spring.  “Karen Lane,” Northgate, Vancouver, WA.

The journaling is what my mom wrote at the time (first paragraph) and after the flowers started sprouting (second paragraph).  The garden was around my playhouse in the backyard at Mom’s.
