This ATC is for an alphabet challenge at another site. I'm doing it on a TV show theme. JOURNALING: "Perry Mason," starring Raymond Burr as author Erle Stanley Gardner's criminal defense lawyer, aired on CBS Sept. '57 to May '66 and has been on TV in some form ever since. An attempt to revive it in '73 with a different cast lasted only 15 episodes. It just wasn't the same without Burr. Ironically, he originally tested for the role of DA Hamilton Burger (later played by William Talman), but exec. producer Gail Patrick Jackson saw Burr in the 1951 movie "A Place in the Sun" and told him he would be perfect for "Perry", if he lost weight. A crash diet, a retest, and the rest is TV history. The cast included Barbara Hale as secretary Della Street; William Hopper (who also tested for Mason) as PI Paul Drake; and Ray Collins as police detective Lt. Arthur Tragg.  Burr returned to "Mason" in 1985 for 26 successful "TV movies" on NBC before his 1993 death. Barbara Hale was Della  Street, the only other original cast member still alive. Her real-life son, William Katt, starred as Paul Drake, Jr. CREDITS: TELEVISION: from clipart library; KITS: "Movie Stars" from EduClips; "Come Undone" by Designs by Helly; INFORMATION: from the web (and memory);  FONT: Arial
