Journal reads: Let me tell you about the power of Disney Magic…

This had to be, hands-down, the most challenging day we’ve ever had at Disney World. It was our first “alone” trip since our honeymoon and we were looking forward to taking things at our pace and indulging in things we wanted to do for a change.

It was Josh’s senior baseball trip with the team at Wide World of Sports, so our only obligation was just to make it to the games and watch…the rest we were on our own! The day started out with a fantastic morning at Hollywood Studios in Toy Story land riding Slinky Dog Dash and Toy Story Mania. We left the park with what we thought was plenty of time to go back to the hotel, have lunch, and catch a bus to WWS. Well after making some reservations with the concierge and rushing to grab a sandwich we missed the bus by mere seconds. As we’re running the driver is pulling away (no doubt noticing us in the rear view mirror). It’s almost 45 minutes until the next bus comes, which is after the game starts…so our one parenting duty we are late for. On the bus ride there, which we realize stops at nearly every resort, we notice all our fast passes have been deleted from our app…a glitch with the newly added reservations! Nooooo…how frustrating! We get to WWS and I head to the diamond, and Tim heads to customer service to get our fast passes figured out. It took a little while but they did get it straightened out.

We’re completely frazzled, but try to enjoy the game (along with a couple of beverages). Later that evening we head back to Hollywood Studios to use our fast passes for Rock N Rollercoaster and Tower of Terror. Rock N Rollercoaster is first and upon exiting the ride, Tim noticed his magic band is missing! He is the main holder of the fast passes and our bank card is linked to the band too. He is literally freaking out, and unfortunately the cast members aren’t being very helpful. We can walk ALLLLLLL the way up to the front of the park for a replacement. Ugh…we just wanted to go on Tower and see Fantasmic...why!!!

So we’re leaving RRC very sad and frustrated and happen upon a cast member who simply asks, “how is your day?” Well Tim asks “How much time do you have?” After summing up our entire day, start to finish, Frank (the cast member) asks what can he do to make it better? All Tim wanted was to get me on Tower since it’s my favorite ride, but our fast passes on Tim’s band were gone. He said no problem and asked if I cared to see the queue or if I just wanted to ride the ride, and I said the ride was fine with me. He ushered us both back up the cast member entrance and let us out in the front row of the ride without waiting at all. He asked how many times would I like to ride and I said once was fine really, I was just so grateful that we could get on.

After Tower he met us where the ride lets out and says he will take us to Fantasmic and get us premiere seating since it was so late at this point. He sat us in the middle of the stadium in prime seats. We thanked him profusely for turning our day around, and he assured us he was only doing his job. We gave him big hugs and we knew this would be a great Disney memory. But it wasn’t over…Tim promised me a Mickey Ice Cream and set off to get one before the show started. When he came back, Frank was with him again with the biggest light up drinks they had and a box of snacks and goodies they give their VIP guests. He said Mickey Ice Cream’s weren’t good enough for the day we had. We were absolutely humbled by the whole experience, and actually felt silly for all the complaining we did…but he sure showed us the true magic of Disney. 4-2019
