The avalanche winter in 1998/1999 and the storm Lothar in 1999 caused enormous damage in the mountain forests around the Axalp in Switzerland.

Woodcarvers from the region carved countless sculptures out of the stumps. Today you can admire the artworks on the Schnitzlerweg between Axalp and Hinterburgseeli. A great fun for children!

Wow how awesome that something so beautiful emerged from such destruction...like glee above, I am going to Google it too.
