Survivor 2021 - Craft Faire
Week 3 {Fiber Art} Challenge
For this week's challenge, I did a page of the Jane Austen Books that Jamie and I altered for our Mom's Club End of Year Banquet.
We were were having a Jane Austen Tea Party, so the altered copies of her books were the perfect invitation to set the theme for our banquet. I shopped for used copies of her books at yard sales, used book stores and thrift stores for over a month. Once we gathered our supplies, we went to work, starting with recovered each book with a colored cardstock and giving it an attached ribbon bookmark. Then, each book got a special binding and their own different cover with paper, lace, journal cards, button, lock and key, frame with vellum and "The Honour of Your Presence is Requested".
The inside cover was also altered with paper, lace, ribbon, felt flower and a ribbon to pull out the invitation which was in a pocket.
For the Challenge, I have way more than 3 fiber elements: doily, 2 ribbons, fabric flowers, stitching with hanging thread, and lace flower.
Journaling Reads:
For our Mom's Club End of Year Banquet, I got used copies of Austen novels & altered them with paper, lace, ribbons, paper ephemera, buttons, frames, vellum - just about anything. Inside the cover was a ribbon to pull the invite details out of an envelope.
It was a huge hit!

*note, the 3 buttons were given a surface texture to make them look older from what is in kit and the tea pot was given a sepia top to match mood. Some items were slightly recolored.
