Moving day!

We lived in our apartment for almost seven years - moved in when our oldest was a few months old - until we finally bought a house. The kids were so excited to finally have a yard! The last day before we moved, I lined them all up at the door to take a picture on our way out. And again at the elevator, and in the lobby.

The first thing that's done when moving in to a new place, according to Jewish tradition, is to hang a mezuzah on the doorpost. It's a case that has a scroll with a certain paragraph from the Torah in it, as a symbol that G-d is in this room (we have one on every room in the house except the bathrooms).

Unpacking took a while, so the kids got to play on the boxes and furniture while it was still lying around.
