This photo of my Uncle Bob and son is one of my favorite photos of all time. I took it Thanksgiving of 1985 when Russell was 4 years old. The anticipation on his face captures my sentiments about the holidays perfectly. For me, it embodies the childlike joy of simple pleasures … the aromas and flavors of the feast, the chatter and laughter of family and friends, the comfort and peace of being part of family tradition. The world may change and loved ones no longer be present but drawing on that memory always brings joy, peace, and the spirit of the season.
