One day after my Mom had been married, she went shopping with her mother (Mama) to Manitowoc. Since Manitowoc was considered a long way from home, they chose to have lunch there at a nice little restaurant. They enjoyed their meal and drink. The drink was so good they ask the owner if they could have the recipe for it. At that time, restaurants freely gave out their recipes and he was happy to give it to them. They forgot to write down the name of the drink. Since they were in Manitowoc and going there was a special trip, they called it Manitowoc Special. The name stuck and was handed down through four generations and other family members. This has been in our family for approximately 60 years.

2. Cups sugar
Grate lemon and squeeze, put in a pan with the sugar and bring to a boil. Don’t over boil. It might crystallize, bring it just to a boil
Let cool. Add 1 ½ Cups Cream or Half & Half -Use 2 to 3 Tablespoons of mix to a glass of white Soda or 7-up It is a great drink.
