When my sister and I were younger, my mom would take us down to the area behind the local college where there were lilac bushes growing. Since it was close sometimes we walked and sometimes she would drives us. She would show us how to pick the lilacs, which ones were good for picking, etc... We would pick a big bouquet or two. Then my sister and I would play in the grassy area there or even play hide n seek in the lilac bush clumps. As we got a little older, my sister and I would go down there sometimes by ourselves and pick surprise bouquets for mom. My mother loved and still loves flowers. It was always a happy surprise for her.
