On purchasing the farm next door to them, my parents discovered a treasure trove of carefully stored vintage clothing and bric a brac. They donated it to the local historical society for display in their heritage cottage. Much to my mother’s regret, and my father’s insistence, they destroyed diaries and letters describing the pioneering life of the family who had first owned the property. Dad said it was not acceptable to read the private papers of others!
