Big Ben is the nickname for the great bell of the clock at the north end of the Palace of Westminster in London.
The Clock Tower – which will be renamed the Elizabeth Tower in a tribute to Queen Elizabeth II marking the 60th anniversary of the accession to the throne in this her Diamond Jubilee year 2012.
The tower holds the largest four-faced chiming clock in the world. The dials are set in an iron frame 23 feet (7 m) in diameter
