At this same time last year, the riverbanks were inundated by a colony of bats (flying foxes). They were noisy, smelly, did so much damage to the trees and were a health hazard as there are several public areas, playgrounds, swimming pools directly beneath their flight paths. This year, not a bat to be seen. Maybe they had a better offer elsewhere or the trees hadn’t recovered enough from the damage of the previous year to sustain such a huge colony. I do hope the colony continues to survive happily...... somewhere else
