My paternal 4th Great-Grandmother Mary Virginia Tarver Coleman created a dressmaking geometry called "Gynametry" sometime in the 1890s. She received a patent and published a book and was written about in many newspapers and no one living in my family ever knew until I stumbled upon it online.
