Keith drove up from St. Petersburg to see me after my surgery and I was very happy to see him. We decided to drive down to Ft. Pickens, where we used to hang out when he was a kid. Lots of changes have been made.  There was no entrance fee back then but now it’s $20.00 or having a National Park Pass. Then, those bunkers were wide open and we explored with a flashlight, making echos in those dark and sometimes stinky concrete bunkers. They are all sealed up tight these days. Keith still took the time to climb up on the main fort itself, which is allowed.  It was a foggy day at the beach and I missed seeing the normally turquoise waters, but even the gray skies and equally gray water was beautiful.
