music is definitely my life. i play the piano and there's a soundtrack going through my head constantly. if you want to read the journaling, here it is:
Music has been the soundtrack of my life as long as I can remember. My parents listened to Nat King Cole, Harry Belafonte, folk music, Frank Sinatra, Broadway musicals, and Barbra Streisand.
For my 13th birthday, I got a transistor radio and listened to the stations playing Motown, Rock’n’Roll and folk. My favorites were (and still are) the Stones, Janis Joplin, the Doors, Led Zeppelin, and protest music. The blues of Billy Holiday, Lead Belly and James Brown are soothing sounds. Al Jarreau’s R&B sound is superb.
The 80s brought another explosion of music … Madonna, Michael Jackson, Cyndi Lauper, Prince, Phil Collins, Bruce Springsteen, George Michael. My 3 year old son would dance to Tina Turner’s “What’s Love Got to Do With It” while watching her on MTV.
So it’s no surprise that my iPad currently has 5079 songs on it and I still have my old vinyls, 45s, cassettes and CDs. If I’m going anywhere in the car for more than an hour, I turn the radio to Bluetooth (my car has Bose speakers), and hit shuffle. I never know what song might come up next but I love them all!
