Mom started an ornament tradition. She started giving a Chrismas ornament to each of her grand-children each year. They were handblown and she frequenntly went to Bronners in Michigan to get them. The first ornament was almost always a Santa Clause. The only exception to this was when I was living in Greece and had a baby in October. He received a “Babies First Christmas” that was a silk ornament and wouldn’t break when shipped. Mom would try to get something special for each child that echoed their likes of sports they were in or something like that through out the years. I have continued the tradition giving each child a Santa ornament first. The last ornament they get from us is a graduation ornament with the year they graduated high school on it. And now as adults they will be ready to decorate their own trees.
