17 On Two Pages QuickClick by Meryl Bartho was the perfect way to add all of these memorable moments from our Scotties experience into two pages. I just adore the grid on the right hand side and could see it used in a checkerboard style for 8 photos. I chose to use Colors of Happiness page kit by Meryl for its pinks and blues but the heart element was just perfect! To finish off, I used Stitched With Love - White Stitch Bits (also available in ecru, {almost} black or a set of all three colours!) and Mad Moment Alpha by Meryl.

When we heard the Scotties were returning to Red Deer, we quickly ordered our tickets to attend the weekend games. We chose seats at the top end of the house and they ended up being at the home end where the final shots are often thrown. The night before the tournament, Darren and I went to the Fan Appreciation Night to watch St. James’ Gate perform. Unfortunately, the sound system wasn’t set up well for the size of the room or crowd so we didn’t stay long. On the first day of curling, Darren took Jeremiah to watch the end of the Hot Shots skills competition where Kerry Galusha of Yellowknife won a 2 year lease on a new car. and then stayed for most of the first game. Jeremiah was really well behaved and charmed many of the other fans, most of whom were seniors. In the evening, Darren and I went to the draw and enjoyed some fine curling. The next morning, I took Sebastian to watch and I treated him to a muffin and chocolate milk for breakfast. We stayed almost to the end of the games then Sebastian wanted to go home. Darren and I returned to the Centrium for the remaining draws of the day. Later in the week, we went back to watch the final game of the round robin. There were no tie-breakers needed so Friday meant just the Page 1-2 playoff game. BC won sending Manitoba to the semi-final. In the 3-4 playoff game on Saturday Alberta beat Quebec and then played again in the semi-final, winning by virtue of a very close measure. On Sunday, Manitoba won the bronze medal against Quebec, while Alberta bested British Columbia for the gold medal and the right to represent Team Canada and the World’s and next year’s Scotties Tournament of Hearts
