This is my little brother....well not so little anymore, who is currently serving in Iraq. We are very proud of him, and we pray every day for his safe return. My letter to him is as follows:

My little brother, the baby of the family....it doesn't seem possible that you are in the Army, much less serving in Iraq. It was so hard to see you get on that plane, knowing you were going to be in a war that is on the other side of the world. I can still remember the day you were born, just three days before my 12th birthday. Mom had just broken her arm a couple weeks before and she needed a lot of help with a newborn and a 15 month old in the house. I helped take care of you, and I loved it. It doesnt seem like that was 25 years ago.

Thankfully, we are able to keep in contact with you via the internet when you arent on a mission, so that helps ease the worries a little. You dont know how much of a relief it is to see your name pop up in a instant message. It is the times that we know you are on a misson that are the hardest. Not knowing where you are or if you are safe is scary for all of us. There are so many people, from family to friends to people that dont even know you, who are proud of you and who pray for your safe return every day. I rely on my faith every day that God will bring you home safely.

Until then, be careful, stay safe, and remember how much we love you.

Love and prayers from your favorite sister.

(Btw, the favorite sister thing is tongue in cheek--I am the only girl with three brothers. Smile )
